About Primrose Sands

Primrose Sands is a sea-side hamlet located in south-eastern Tasmania. It is approximately 45 minutes from Hobart, 45 minutes from Port Arthur, 20 minutes from Hobart Airport and 25 minutes from Richmond. It is best known for its gorgeous beach with its fine white sand that stretches for 1.8km and is great for that evening stroll or taking the kids for a swim. It is a kids safe beach with no strong tidal rips and is great to take the kids for a swim.

Primrose Sands has a population of about 1000 permanent residents, and the population swells over the summer months as shack owners make the most of the beach side living. There is a local shop / takeaway / petrol station that caters for your basic groceries and take away food. On Friday and Saturday nights pizzas are also available. There is also the Primrose Sands RSL that has meals on Friday and Saturday nights.

If you are into fishing, there is a boat ramp and jetty protected by a rock wall. Once you launch your boat, you then have access to Fredrick Henry bay. Whether it be Flathead, salmon or crayfish you will be able to catch your dinner! And if you don't have a boat, you can also catch a feed from the foreshore.
